Britain's best quality water beaches
The Good Beach Guide has announced its best quality UK beaches, on behalf of The Marine Conservation Society (MCS). Sadly, for the first time in 22-years the water quality of our beaches has dropped by a whopping 16.5 per cent.
But don’t despair, as 370 beaches of our British beaches are ‘MCS Recommended’. We count down our favourite selection of must-visit swimming beaches across the nation.
Isle of Man - the worst of the lot
Recommended beaches: 1 out of 18
* Isle of Man: Derbyhaven beach
Beaches not making the water grade: 3 beaches
Three beaches failed the water quality test, and just one beach was recommended. The north and the west of the island have yet to be connected to the improved sewage system and this means that raw excrement is still being pumped into the sea at a number of places.
