A band whose stature appears to be growing by the week (now with a Mercury nomination to their name), Keane stay well within the big indie ballad template of their first two singles with this latest offering, Bedshaped. The opening verse may verge on soppiness, but there's no arguing with the song that soon blossoms out of these fumbling beginnings - a vast expanse of soaring vocals, humming bass and knee-trembling piano chords. And then, just when you think it couldn't get any more epic, a proggy synth solo swoops in to up the ante, gliding across the octaves in true Jean-Michel Jarre style. Brilliant stuff.
