LeToya - LeToya review

The ex-Destiny's Child singer has already hit the top of the US album chart with this, her debut solo long player, although it is hard to believe she will be repeat the long-term appeal of her more famous ex-colleague from DC, one Ms B. Knowles.

The album is chock-full of the usual slick, well-produced R&B fare and it's perfectly good stuff, all in all.

There's no doubting that the girl's got a great voice and the tunes are pleasant enough, but this record is simply so unremarkable as to make one wonder quite what all the fuss has been about in the US of A over it, aside from LeToya's connection with the most successful R&B act in recent years.

It's OK, with the standout track being the soon-to-be released single, Torn, and no, it's not the song made famous by Natalie Imbruglia; but you didn't really expect it to be, did you? One thing; much of the press release accompanying this album is devoted to talking about LeToya's reality show LeToya: The H-Town Chick, or her upcoming episode in MTV's "major new series" 24/7. And you thought it was about the music...
