The Unicorns
Lo-fi Canadian experimentalists The Unicorns built up a cult following on the back of their limited edition, self-released material, before finally setting foot into the mainstream with a release on eclectic record label Alien8 Recordings - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? Just as they appeared to be fulfilling their promise, they announced "THE UNICORNS ARE DEAD (R.I.P.)" on their website and promptly disbanded. Largely eschewing conventional song structure, their grainy indie-pop compositions will be remembered for lyrics which combined the quirky with the heartfelt.
