David Beckham's childhood home for sale
David Beckham’s first childhood home is up for sale at auction next month and, despite initial hopes that the footballer’s name would help it fetch a small fortune, the property is now expected to sell for just £215,000.
The three-bedroom Victorian terrace on Norman Road in Leytonstone, east London is where Beckham was brought up until the age of two and had originally been offered at £850,000, three times its then value.
At first the property's owners had no idea of its once famous inhabitant until local man Colin Evans, who was looking into the past lives of some of the area’s more famous residents, knocked on their door.
Owners Samira and Sulman hopes of cashing in on the Beckham brand may have cost them dearly. Six months down the line the house remains unsold and is due to be auctioned by Savills on May 11 at a guide price of £215,000. Neighbouring houses on Norman Road were going for £250,000 last year, or for up to 14 per cent more than today.
